Dr Alexandra Barnett
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Since completing my Doctorate in 2011 I have worked in the NHS, private sector and the New Zealand Department of Corrections and mental health services. I have worked with adults, young people, children, families and couples with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. I am an integrative practitioner which means I tailor treatment to a clients personal values, beliefs and goals. I have a particular interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and have received additional training in motivational interviewing, family focused therapy and solution focused therapy. I am compassionate and non-judgemental in my approach. I aim to create a therapeutic environment where people feel safe to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
